About me

I am a contemporary abstract artist, based in Hampshire UK. The surrounding patchwork of wide open skies and cocooning woodlands are a constant source of inspiration to me. Through painting, I aim to evoke the magic of nature; the soul beyond what we see and the glimmers of the stories to be told.

 

My daily walks are the starting point for my work - observing the ever-changing rhythms of nature, colour palettes, patterns, textures, shadows, reflections, shapes and perspectives. Each painting begins unplanned, as I distill experience and observation and begin to weave them with memories, balancing abstraction and representational, the familiar and unfamiliar, imagination and reality. 

 

Growing up in a creative family, art has always been part of my life. I was always drawing, and then at the age of nine, my Grandmother introduced me to oils and watercolours which led to a love of painting. I went on to complete my Foundation year, and then having first followed an alternative career path, I returned to painting full-time in 2022, developing a practice which combines observation and intuition and explores the use of acrylic, pencil, oil pastel and watercolour.

 

I take part in Open Studios and have been invited to participate in numerous group exhibitions as well as enjoying a successful three month solo exhibition in late 2024.
